The Tim Duncan Debate

TD 21Tim Duncan, multiple MVP winner, finals MVP winner and nba All Star. The Big Fundamentals will go down as one of the best postseason performers of his time. So why is it that I cannot give him the title of best power forward in history?I have discussed this topic in great length over the years and my view has not changed. Tim Duncan has been an excellent player for a very long time but he has never been the best player in the league. That title between 1997-present belongs to Karl Malone, Shaquille O’Neal and Lebron James. A closer look at Duncan’s stats tells the story.

Karl Malone               Charles Barkley                     Tim Duncan
Career Statistics        Career Statistics                    Career Statistics
PPG.  25.                     PPG.    22.1                             PPG.    21.7
RPG.  10.10                 RPG.    11.7                             RPG.    11.8
APG.    3.6                  APG.       3.9                            APG.      3.2
BPG.     0.7                  BPG.       0.8                            BPG.      2.4
SPG.     1.4                  SPG.       1.5                             SPG.      0.8

These three great power forwards have almost identical numbers. Malone has more points, Barkley more assist and Duncan more blocks. With numbers so similar across the board, if you agree that the championships put Duncan ahead, then if he did not have the championships, he must be rated below the two greats.

Then, there is the never ending debate over whether Timmy is a forward or center. Does being 7ft, 260lbs qualify you as being a center? They have recently changed him from center to power forward on the 2008 all star ballots. I remember early in Shaq’s career, he was playing along side Tree Rollins, they were both centers. Why is Duncan so different?

One can’t help but wonder if Duncan had to go threw Jordan like Malone and Barkley did. I wonder if he would have the championships.
Personally, I don’t think he would. Tim Duncan is a great player but he is not the best power forward to play the game.

The streets of Montreal have a new voice, and he goes by the name of MUGZ!

muggz_cover-front-on.jpgRaised within the city of Chateauguay (AKA Chat-Town) by way of NDG, MUGZ (born Michael Stoute) is on his grind towards the top of charts and not letting anything stand in his way. MUGZ is surrounded by musical talent and his true inspiration who happens to be well-known recording artist Mezziah who is CEO of the fast rising company Hus-a-lah Entertainment as well  MUGZ & Mezziah happen to share a strong bond, one of blood & an unconditional love for the music that the culture of Hip-Hop creates.

MUGZ took to the underground stage of Hip-Hop at a young age. MUGZ engaged in numerous freestyle battles in order to sharpen his skill set & garnered the attention needed to set the path to his current status as the rising phoenix in Canada’s Hip-Hop industry. He also caught the attention of his older cousin Mezziah who decided to take MUGZ under his wing as part of his recording label. MUGZ   recorded his first single “Too Damn Hard” at the phenomenal age of 17 with label mates Shiness, MUGZ wasted no time in dropping a debut mixtape entitled“ THE MUGZSHOT VOLUME 1”, featuring renowned Montreal and Toronto artists Bobby Bucks, Lady J, AK, Young Fresh and his mentor Mezziah. The recognition gained from the mixtape brought on multiple requests for public performances on stage, MUGZ has appeared on stage with International R&B starlet Rihanna & has opened for Shady/Aftermath artist Obie Trice during his 2006 North American tour.

MUGZ has appearances at various concert venues, industry shows, colleges, nightclubs, and radio stations. MUGZ shows Toronto audiences consistency with his fluid delivery & his unapproachable skills, which has gained much praise and love from the urban and mainstream fans of Hip-Hop throughout the city. The young artist MUGZ was also awarded Canada’s “Hip Hop Lives 2007” award by Reverend Gray of the Imani church in Montreal after displaying his MC skills during live competition.

MUGZ is currently hard at work concerning the business aspect of his career as well as the educational facet of his life. He is now on course to complete a degree in Psychology at Dawson College while still dedicating every spare moment to mastering his craft. On October 13, 2007, MUGZ displayed his versatility by dropping the sophomore mixtape sequel entitled “THE MUGZSHOT VOLUME 2 DOUBLE OR NOTHIN“. The success of this current mixtape is in thanks to the two lead hit singles “I GOT YA” and “RISE” featuring Dina. MUGZ who is known throughout the city as “The Unsigned Hype” had his mixtape sales soar beyond 200 copies in the first day.

Despite all his short-term accomplishments, MUGZ has remained humble and patient. He considers himself a “Rookie to the game”. He owes his success to the primary woman in his life, Mrs. Stoute, whose strong West Indian influence on his upbringing made him the man he is today.

MUGZ is the official ambassador of Hip-Hop in Montreal & Toronto, his prowess and magnificent skill on the mic is soon to lead to fortune and fame. A true story of grit, determination and never letting his dreams fade…
